①advise against　＝to suggest that something should not be done  ～しないよう助言する、忠告する

Advise against means to suggest to someone that they should not do something they are thinking of doing.
Many parents advise their children against studying art.
Because artists struggle financially.
They don't have a stable income.
So parents advise their children to study engineering or medicine.

② eat into = to use up a large part of something valuable, such as money or time.  ～を使い込む

Eat into means to use or take away a large part of something valuable, such as money or time. The high cost of living in the capital city is eating into my savings. Students' university fees have been eating into parents' savings. You have eaten into my wallet.

ウィーンは英語でVienna　（vién)　

オーストリアの首都：ドナウ川のほとりに位置するウィーンは芸術・音楽の都として有名多くの観光客を引き寄せてきました。

ハプスブルク家の夏の離宮であったシェーンブルン宮殿など、帝国時代の宮殿でも有名です。旧市街をふくむ歴史地区も、「ウィーン歴史地区」として世界遺産に登録されています。

さて、日本語でウィーンと呼んでいるこの街は、オーストリアで公用語のドイツ語ではWien（Veen）と発音します。日本語読みに近いのはドイツ語ですね。英語でなんでViennaなのかオーストリアの先生もわからないって言っていた（笑）

紛らわしいけど南半球のオーストラリアとは語源の由来は全く違います。

 

Vienna is the capital of Austria and is located on the banks of the Danube River. The city is artistically and culturally renowned, and is known for its musicians such as Mozart, Schubert, and Beethoven. Even today, it remains an important center for classical music. The city has a history dating back to the ancient Roman period, and its old town is registered as a World Heritage Site with its existing buildings of various architectural styles erected in various periods.

今回は、仏教遺跡で有名なバーミヤン

バーミヤン渓谷の文化的景観と古代遺跡群は世界遺産に認定されましたが、２００１年にタリバン政権によって無残に破壊されてしまいました。

古代から仏教国都市として繁栄したバーミヤンはインド美術やペルシア美術などの影響を受けた仏教文化が発達しました。かの有名な中国：唐の玄奘が630年にこの地を訪れたときには、この地の僧院に数千人の僧侶が居住し、２体の大仏のほかに金色に輝き300ｍもある涅槃仏があったともいわれています。今でも緑豊かな渓谷でおすすめ観光地として紹介されました。

上段右の大仏は、破壊前のものを復元した模型ですがバーミヤンが仏教国からイスラム支配へと移った際に（1000年以上も前）、地元の人たちが偶像崇拝を禁止するイスラム支配を受け入れるため、大仏の顔をきれいにそぎ落とし大仏は守り抜いてあかしでもありました。展示会で復元された壁画の蒼は本物と同様にラピスラズリを顔料としています。

今年のノーベル物理学賞は、プリンストン大学（米国）の真鍋淑郎さんが受賞されることが発表されました。温暖化ガスによって気温が上昇する仕組みを理論化し、地球の気候の再現や予測ができる計算モデルを構築されたことが今回の受賞につながったそうです。環境問題が大きな関心・インパクトを持つことを示したともいえます。エネルギー関連の単語のツイートをUPします。

英語で日本を説明＃5　日本食：うま味　Secret of UMAMI!

今回の英語で日本を説明は「日本食のおいしさの秘密　うま味」について

"Umami is one of the five basic tastes sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami, and plays an important role in making food taste good.
The main umami components are glutamic acid, inosinic acid and guanylic acid.When umami ingredients are combined, the "synergistic effect of umami" makes the food more delicious.

「うま味」はおいしさを表す「旨味・旨み・うまみ」とは区別して使われます。Twwiterで動画作った時は知りませんでした（笑）

主な、うま味成分は、グルタミン酸、イノシン酸、グアニル酸です。うま味成分が組み合わさると、「うま味の相乗効果＝synergistic effect of umami」によって、食品がよりおいしくなります。

グルタミン酸←昆布に含まれる

イノシン酸←かつお節に含まれる

グアニル酸←干ししいたけに含まれる
